Is it Time to Try Chiropractic Care?
Is it Time to Try Chiropractic Care?
by Dr. Peter Hrkal, Chiropractor
Chiropractic care is growing in popularity across Canada. In 2019, 4.7 million Canadians — or 16% of the adult population — visited one of the country’s 9,000 chiropractors (according to the Canadian Chiropractic Association). This number continues to rise each year as more people discover the benefits of chiropractic treatment.
A study conducted in Ontario provided further insights into chiropractic care usage. Of those seeking care, 59% were women, and 43% of all patients were between the ages of 45 and 64. The most common reasons for seeking treatment were low back pain (49%) and neck pain (15%).
So, what can we learn from these numbers?
1. Men Might Be Missing Out
The study shows that men are sometimes more hesitant to seek chiropractic care, despite benefiting equally from treatments. If you or someone you know has been on the fence, it might be time to reconsider.
2. Chiropractic Care is for All Ages
While nearly half of chiropractic visits are from patients aged 45 to 64, younger generations are starting to embrace it too. In my practice, I’m seeing an increasing number of teenagers suffering from neck, shoulder, and mid-back pain due to heavy technology use. Chiropractic care can be beneficial for individuals of all ages, whether you need occasional adjustments or regular treatments to stay at your best.
3. We Treat More Than Just Backs
Though 64% of patients seek chiropractic care for neck or spine issues, chiropractors are trained to assess and treat the entire body. From shoulders and elbows to hips, knees, and even headaches, we can help with a variety of musculoskeletal problems and sports injuries.
Is It Time to Add Chiropractic Care to Your Health Routine?
With only 1 in 7 adults in Canada currently visiting a chiropractor, there’s a good chance you or someone you know could benefit from this form of care. Chiropractic treatment can help reduce pain, improve mobility, and support your overall health and fitness goals.
